Two current construction projects of note: Indiana University Cancer Center Scheduled for completion in 2008, the new $150,000 million, 405,000 square-foot, seven-floor Indiana University Cancer Center expansion will bring inpatient and outpatient care, research, and medical education under one roof on the IUPUI campus. A collaboration between the IU School of Medicine and Clarian Health Partners, the facility will have the capacity for 80 new cancer treatment beds, facilities for up to 40 patients receiving chemotherapy, three floors for outpatient clinics, 14-16 operating rooms, oncology space, a café and a retail pharmacy. The construction project also involves renovation of two existing clinics and expansion of radiology and imaging areas. The New Indianapolis Airport Thirty years in the planning, the $1.1 billion New Indianapolis Airport will feature a new passenger terminal, concourses, parking garage and airfield and apron improvements. The 1.2 million square foot Midfield Terminal is the largest development initiative in the City of Indianapolis’s history. The terminal, a unique design by the internationally renowned firm of Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, is designed to foster economic growth and position Indianapolis as a clearly distinct travel destination. The heart of the terminal will be a circular space reminiscent of downtown’s Monument Circle, reflecting the economic and cultural history of Indianapolis. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2008.
